QATARI AL-ATTIYAH TAKES THE LEAD IN THE

KENDERLI, May 28, 2019. The second competitive day of the World Cup Cross Country Rallies of the FIA “Rally Kazakhstan 2019” ended with a triumph Qatar for Nasser Al-Attiyah.  Dutchman Bernhard Ten Brinke finished second with a 2-minute difference and Jakub Przyhonski rounding off the top three. Fourth on the stage was the family crew of the Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel. The length of today’s section was 414 kilometers, which is the longest distance of the World Cup Rallies’ stage in Aktau.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

The second competitive route "Rally Kazakhstan 2019" included a circular section starting and finishing in Kenderli, through the desert to the east around the Senek settlement. The  stage passed through difficult sandy  dunes which proved difficult for all competitors.

Al Attiya commented ‘We passed the second special stage as carefully as possible, albeit quickly. Ahead of us are four more days of the race. We intend to fight for victory until the very end. We did not experience problems in the sands. Despite the fact that we were again incurred an extra one-minute penalty, we are satisfied with today's result’.

 
 
 
 

 
 
 
 

Bernhard ten Brinke and Tom Colsul had a great drive and finished only 2 minutes behind Nasser and is now in 4th place in the general classification.

Today we traveled a rather difficult route, we had to overcome sand dunes and rocky areas. Everything worked out quite well. However, we had to change the wheel during the race, but despite the time lost we he managed to finish second. The real battle begins now, - noted Bernhard Ten Brinke.

 
 
 
 

 
 
 
 

Third across the finish line was Jakub Przygonski, losing just 21 seconds behind Ten Brinke.

Jakub Przygonski said after the race. ‘The atmosphere of the Kazakhstan stage is impressive. The level of the race has grown very much both on and off the track. Today is a prime example. It was a beautiful weather, not so hot. We had a great rivalry with Bernhard ten Brinke. We enjoyed the Mangystau landscapes and enjoyed the race today. We are not so far from Nasser now’.

The Kazakhstan duo of Andrey Cherednikov and Ignat Falkov were ninth on the stage and now take the 9th place overall.

In the class of T2 off-road vehicles, the captain of the “Aktau Motorsport” Kazakhstan team, winner of the “Silk Road 2017” rally-marathon Kirill Chernenkov won the second day of the competition . The winner of the first day Qatari race driver Mohhamed Almeer (Mohhamed Nasser Almeer) finished second, 16 minutes behind the Kazakhstani team.
