IN MANGYSTAU SUCCESSFULLY WAS HELD THE ROUND OF THE FIA WORLD CUP FOR CROSS COUNTRY RALLIES “RALLY KAZAKHSTAN 2019”

AKTAU, June 1, 2019. Today on the embankment of Aktau was held the finish of the round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies “Rally Kazakhstan 2019”. Following the results of six tense competitive days, the rally-raid was won by the racer from Qatar Nasser Al-Attiyah with the navigator Mathieu Baumel, the second place went to the matrimonial crew of Stephane and Andrea Peterhansel, and the three of the best were closed by the team of Jakub Przygonski and Timo Gottschalk.

Rally-raid took place on the territory of Mangystau region in the period from May 27 to June 1. The competition route "Rally Kazakhstan 2019" was divided into six stages and the drivers overcame more than 2500 kilometers on the endless steppes, dunes and off-road.

A total of 28 combat crews from 17 countries of the world (Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Qatar, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Turkmenistan, Czech Republic, Chile, France) went out to “Rally Kazakhstan 2019”, thus this year practically the best racers of the world gathered in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan at the rally was represented by 3 sports crews.

At the final sixth stage, the crews drove the shortest 148 km selective section, which ran north of Aktau along the beautiful coastline of the Caspian Sea.

On the last day of the race, the best time was shown by the team of Bernhard Ten Brinke and Tom Colsoul, who lost all chances of winning a prize after yesterday's failure. The second finished Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel. Favorite of the Kazakhstani round Nasser Al-Attiyah showed the third best result of the day.

Following the six stages, the current winner of the Dakar rally-marathon Nasser Al-Attiyah, driving a Toyota Hilux won a triumphant victory in the "Rally Kazakhstan 2019". This to a large extent contributed to the advantage over rivals, which was achieved at the previous stages of the race. The unstoppable Qatari is now the two-time winner of "Rally Kazakhstan".

- I am happy to win the "Rally Kazakhstan". We are in the lead in the championship, and this is fantastic. Now we are waiting for the “Rally of Morocco”. Obviously, this is a good year for us, six races and six wins. We drove the last special stage perfectly, everything was under control, ”said Nasser Al-Attiyah, winner of "Rally Kazakhstan 2019".

The record holder in the number of victories at the Dakar rally, the debutant of Rally Kazakhstan, Stephane Peterhansel did not have more than 5 minutes to win.

- Today we finished on the shore of the Caspian Sea. Beautiful landscape,  beach. On the first day we lost a lot of time because of a puncture in the tire. Then, we did not make big mistakes, - noted Stephane Peterhansel. Spouse and navigator of the legendary racer Andrea was amazed by the speed at the rally. We sometimes accelerated over 200 kilometers per hour. In such conditions it is not easy to give correct navigation. I got a lot of experience at Rally Kazakhstan, ”said Andrea Peterhansel.

It needs to be noted that, "Rally Kazakhstan 2019" was visited by the president of the FIA Cross Country Commission Jutta Kleinschmidt - a truly legendary person in motor racing, the world's only woman-winner of the Dakar Marathon and prize-winner of the World Cup in Rally-Raids. Representative of the Automobile and Touring Club of UAE Ronan Morgan was the Clerk of the Course of the "Rally Kazakhstan 2019".

Kazakhstani pilots and navigators at the rally in Mangystau competed with the best representatives of the rally-raid world, and secondly, they revealed the National Rally Raid Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The best result for Kazakhstani teams was the 6th position, reached by the crew of Andrey Cherednikov and navigator Ignat Falkov from the “OFF Road Kazakhstan” team.

- This year, the rally “Rally Kazakhstan 2019” again became a grand international competition, followed by millions of autosport fans all over the world. For the first time, Kazakhstan won the right to hold one of the rounds of this prestigious World Cup in 2017 and since then we have been striving every year to reach a new level in organizing a rally raid. We can confidently say that all participants of the race were satisfied with the route and navigation, as well as the general atmosphere of “Rally Kazakhstan 2019”. Kazakhstani athletes are also progressing and accumulating experience, and the development of motor racing in the country continues to contribute to the formation of a positive image of the country on the world stage”, - said the President of Automotorsport Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Abykayev after the successful completion of the stage.

The winner of the T2 category was the crew of the Qatari racer Mohhamed Al-Meer in a Toyota Landcruiser car. The Turkmen crew of Shamyrat Gurbanov received the award for second place. Representatives of the "Aktau MotorSport" Kazakhstan team Kirill Chernenkov and Alexey Mun became the bronze winners of this series. Aktau race drivers showed a good ride for all the days of the race, but many hours of penalties for non-compliance with the sport rules of the rally did not allow the crew to claim higher places.

In the overall standings, the T3 category was not equal to the race driver from Brazil, Reinaldo Varela. The representative of Spain, José Luis Pena Campo, conceded to the leader in the overall standings an hour and a half, and took the second line of the pedestal.

In the National Cup of the RK in Rally Raid on “Rally Kazakhstan 2019”, professional factory teams from Russia "KAMAZ-master" and "GAZ Reid Sport" showed themselves excellently. The rally ended with the victory of the team " KAMAZ--master" and pilot Dmitry Sotnikov. The second and third places in the rally went to the crews of Mikhail Shklyaev and Alexey Khlebov from the "GAZ Reid Sport" team, respectively.

The organizer of the rally was Automotorsport Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the RK, as well as the akimat of Mangystau region. The general partner of the organization and conduct of “Rally Kazakhstan 2019” is "Samruk-Kazyna" National Welfare Fund" JSC.
